Lawns for a City That Grew Outward
Hydroseeding in Thomasville covers everything from old yards near the tracks to new subdivisions on the edges. When Thomasville was incorporated in January 1857, it occupied one square mile, with the railroad dividing it into north and south sections. Today the city covers about 16.8 square miles, and the rural areas around Thomasville and Lexington are slowly developing as bedroom communities for Winston-Salem, Greensboro and High Point.
Little standing water, plenty of runoff
Of those 16.8 square miles, only about 0.01 square miles is water. With almost no ponds or lakes inside the city, stormwater moves through pipes, ditches and small creeks. Bare lots send sediment straight into that system, so we use silt fence and inlet protection on graded sites and get seed and mulch down quickly.
Mill-era neighborhoods
Thomasville built its name on chairs, from split-bottom chairs made at home in the 1800s to Thomasville Chair, started in 1904; by 1916 the city was turning out 2,000 chairs a day. Neighborhoods from the factory years have mature yards that usually need renovation more than new installation: thatch removal, soil loosening and overseeding.
New edges of town
On the outskirts, new home sites are often cut from woods or field. We clear and grade, bring in topsoil where needed, and hydroseed so the lawn and the slopes come in together.
Commercial and industrial
The city is home to companies including Old Dominion Freight Line and Mohawk Industries. Truck terminals, warehouses and their detention areas need seeded slopes and stabilized ditches, and those are jobs we take on.

Thomasville Questions
Can you renovate an old lawn instead of starting over?
Often, yes. If at least half the yard is decent grass, aeration and overseeding can bring it back. Weedy or bare yards do better with a full redo.
Do you clear wooded lots before seeding?
Our grading crew handles clearing, stump areas and grading, then we seed the finished ground.
A ditch along my property keeps eroding. What can be done?
We reshape the ditch and line it with a seeded erosion control blanket so the channel holds while grass fills in.
Do you work on truck terminals and warehouse sites?
Yes, including slopes, detention areas and silt fence during construction.
