A Seeding Crew Built Around Red Clay
Hydroseeding Greensboro sprays seed, mulch and fertilizer onto bare ground across Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem, Burlington and the towns between them. We seed new lawns, stabilize builder lots and commercial sites, lay erosion control blankets on slopes, install silt fence and inlet protection, grade and topsoil yards, and overseed tired fescue.
The ground here decides a lot of how that work goes. Most of the Triad sits on Cecil-type soil, North Carolina's state soil: a thin brown sandy loam over red clay. Much of the old farm ground lost its topsoil long ago, and the clay that is left packs hard under trucks and does not loosen back up on its own. Rain comes year round, close to 44 inches at the airport in a normal year, with the heaviest months in summer. Grass that does well in this climate, mainly tall fescue, wants to go in during early fall.
So we do not treat seeding as a single spray. We look at the soil, the slope, where the water goes and what time of year it is, and we tell you plainly when a job should wait a few weeks or needs more prep before seed will hold.
Our habits on Triad jobs
- Every quote follows an on-site look at the ground, and once you sign it, the number written on it is the number we bill
- We check for compaction and missing topsoil and say so in the estimate if prep is needed
- Tall fescue goes down in the fall window whenever the schedule allows; warm-season grass goes down in late spring and summer
- On slopes we pick between hydromulch, bonded fiber matrix and blankets based on the grade, not on what is easiest to spray
- On permitted sites we follow the approved erosion and sedimentation control plan and the local program's rules
- Fabric fence and drain protection are set ahead of the dozer, not after the first storm has already moved red clay
- Each lawn customer gets a printed sheet covering how to water and when to make the first cut
