Seeding on the Yadkin's Doorstep
Hydroseeding in Clemmons puts us right beside one of North Carolina's longest rivers. The village sits in southwestern Forsyth County directly east of the Yadkin River, which flows 215 miles from near the Blue Ridge Parkway toward the Pee Dee. Lots on the west side of Clemmons fall toward the river valley, and runoff from bare ground there heads into the Yadkin system.
River-valley history
William Johnson, an early Welsh settler in the Yadkin River Valley, bought the core of what is now Tanglewood Park in 1757 and built a fort overlooking the river. In 1921 the property passed to William Neal Reynolds, who enlarged it to more than 1,100 acres and raised harness horses there. Much of the land around the village was farm or estate ground before it was house lots.
Tanglewood as a benchmark
Tanglewood Park, on the river between Clemmons and Bermuda Run, has two golf courses, an arboretum and rose garden, and Mallard Lake. Its grounds are a reminder of what good soil prep and steady care produce, and they set a high bar for lawns nearby.
Sediment and the Yadkin
The Yadkin's own record notes that the Mitchell River was hit in the 1980s by massive sediment runoff from land clearing at a development. That kind of history is why we install silt fence before grading on Clemmons lots that drain toward the river and stabilize slopes as soon as they are finished.

Clemmons Questions
Do you hydroseed lots that drain to the Yadkin River valley?
Yes. Those lots get silt fence on the low side during grading and quick stabilization once the final grade is set.
What do I do with a side yard that washes out every storm?
Usually the grade is funneling water through the yard. We reshape it so water spreads out or goes to a swale, then seed and mulch or blanket the problem area.
Can you seed above a retaining wall?
Yes. The slope above a wall needs a dense stand of grass to limit erosion, and we often use a heavier mulch there.
Is Clemmons too far west for you?
No. We work across Clemmons and the nearby Yadkin River communities.
